All The Fun of the Seaside – Southport Market
Working alongside Sefton Council, DV8 Designs team have been key in helping to transform and reimagine this prime asset as an enabler to help reinvigorate and regenerate the town. Southport Market opened in 1857. The current building is the second version of the design and retains its classic Victoria form.
DV8 Designs hold an established reputation within the commercial and food and drink sectors designing bars, restaurants, distilleries and food halls, including the EngineRooms at the award winning Birchwood Park.
The vision for the redesigned venture drew on the influences of Southport’s vibrant history, architecture and gardens to reinforce a strong design intent. It was also important to draw upon successful UK and European food markets alongside a cultural model that encourages socialisation, eating and sharing new experiences.
Director of DV8 Designs, Lee Birchall, said: “We bring our extensive experience and specialist knowledge of the sector to the table, along with our passion and our true Northern pride.
“The re-design of the space at Southport Market will be integral to the regeneration of this fantastic destination, and we are so proud to be involved.”
Working together as a team of creatives, DV8 have designed this scheme to compliment all that is Southport, with a concept truly inspired by traditional seaside attractions.
Due to open imminently, the new Southport Market will be the cornerstone of what is being established as the Market Quarter, and will breathe life and vibrancy back into the area, offering expansive event space that will house a cultural events programme as well as nine artisan and independent food and drink operators.
