Appointed once again by Greene King and now as the lead design practice to help bring to life the vision for HIVE the new franchise pub concept across the UK. The HIVE ethos is all about community and delivering the best local experience.
The Squirrels project, a previously run down Grade II listed thatched pub located in the heart of the Duston village has enjoyed a sympathetic makeover with much improved spaces. DV8 worked with Greene King to transform this prime asset as an enabler to reinvigorate the venue as a hub of social activity for the local community.
Design objectives included spatial rationalisation solutions for multifunctional zones, internal and external with design influence to the location and heritage, touches included squirrel bric a brac, intelligent lighting to open up the beamed areas, improved sports area.
